Dramatic New Crossroads GPS TV Ad Slams Obama Over Excessive Spending, Debt

Third phase of summer-long Crossroads GPS initiative focuses on President’s failure to control spending or create jobs.

WASHINGTON – Today, Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (Crossroads GPS) launched its third national issue ad on jobs and the economy – this time focusing on President Obama’s dramatic failure to create jobs or control the skyrocketing national debt during his first term in office.

The new ad, entitled “Thread,” uses three-dimensional graphic rendering to illustrate how President Obama’s economic policies have swelled the national debt, and brought the economy to a breaking point that will harm future generations. It will air on national cable television and on network-affiliated broadcast television stations covering Colorado, Iowa, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada and Virginia. The ad will also be complemented by extensive internet advertising in those states.

The spot can be viewed here. Broadcast-quality versions are available upon request.

The total dedicated to the effort, including national cable, local TV, Internet advertising and production is $3.5 million over two weeks. This total is in addition to the $1.5 million in Crossroads GPS ads launched on Tuesday that target five U.S. Senators.

“America’s economy really is hanging by a thread, and to keep that thread from breaking Republicans must stop President Obama’s reckless scheme to raise taxes in the middle of a jobs recession,” said Crossroads GPS president and CEO Steven Law. “The fact that Obama is willing to hold our country’s fiscal stability hostage over more taxes shows how ideologically committed he is to expanding government regardless of the economic cost.”

The new spot is part of a $20 million advocacy campaign begun by Crossroads GPS in June to frame the national issues debate on the economy and national debt, as Congress negotiates a deal with President Obama. Earlier spots in the initiative, in both English and Spanish, can be viewed on theCrossroads GPS channel on Youtube.com.

All of the new ads promote the website www.nomoreblankchecks.com, which provides viewers with online tools to write their senators and representatives to oppose new taxes as part of a debt deal.

Crossroads GPS is a policy and grassroots advocacy organization that is committed to educating, equipping and mobilizing millions of American citizens to take action on the critical economic and legislative issues that will shape our nation’s future in the years ahead.
