New ads in key pressure point congressional districts focus on debt and spending issues in lead-up to debt-cutting votes.
WASHINGTON – Today, Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (Crossroads GPS) launched issue ads in 10 house districts as part of its $20 million advocacy campaign on runaway government spending and debt. New TV spots totaling nearly $1.4 million in advertising buys begin running today for two weeks ten key House districts.
The district specific ads focus on Reps. Mike Ross of Arkansas, Jim Matheson of Utah, Kurt Schrader of Oregon, Heath Shuler of North Carolina, Bill Owens and Tim Bishop of New York, Ben Chandler of Kentucky, Leonard Boswell of Iowa, Jerry Costello of Illinois and Lois Capps of California. The ads encourage constituents to visit the Crossroads GPS www.NoMoreBlankChecks.com website to contact their Representatives and say no to more taxes, spending and debt.
The new spots are part of a summer-long, $20 million effort by Crossroads GPS to urge decisive action by Congress to cut spending and the national debt and start rebuilding the nation’s economy.
“President Obama is leveraging his bully-pulpit for millions of dollars in free airtime, and as the debt negotiations unfold we must make sure Americans are getting the facts about the reckless spending in Washington,” said Steven Law, president of Crossroads GPS. “President Obama and his congressional allies have already wasted hundreds of billions of our tax dollars, and we need to send them the message that they don’t deserve another penny in taxes.”
The new House ads compliment a national ad, “Wake Up”, which is currently running in rotation as both a :60 and :30 spot on national cable TV, as well as on broadcast TV stations in Colorado, Iowa, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada and Virginia.
